BREAD
FOR THE WORLD
Meeting November 10
Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy
organization that works in a non-partisan way to encourage our federal
legislators to support legislation and funding to combat hunger in our
country and around the world. I have been a member for over 20 years
and have introduced other parishes I’ve served to this important
ministry. One of our Vestry goals is to become more involved in
advocacy, as an expression of our Baptismal promise to “strive for
justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every
human being.” Our Outreach Commission has decided to have our parish
become a church member of Bread For the World.
I would like to encourage anyone who is
interested, especially people who are already involved in ministry to
those who are hungry, through the soup kitchen, CROP Walk, and
Thanksgiving in July, to join me at an introductory meeting of Bread
For the World, to be held Thursday, November 10, from 6:00 to 9:00
p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, in Allentown. There will be a
light supper with the meeting following. If you want to learn more, you
can speak to me or go to www.bread.org to find out about
this important way of living out Jesus’ call to care for the least of
his brothers and sisters.
